François Auguste René Rodin
(1840 - 1917)
It's hard for us at Art Bronze Casters to say enough about Rodin. Perhaps wow or Dios Mio would suffice. If you have previously heard of Rodin and would like to learn more, may we recommend reading Rodin: A Biography by Frederic V. Grunfeld, or Rodin: The Shape of Genius by Ruth Butler.
You can find his work at museums in Paris and Philadelphia, as well as an outdoor sculpture garden at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. At Palo Alto you can see one of the eight castings of Rodin's "Gates of Hell" (Les Portes de l'Enfer) upon which Rodin is said to have worked for 15 years and is said to be his greatest work.
Many say Rodin is a "classic" artist, but others say he is the father of modern art. Regardless, these are just categories used by people to try to understand his work. We will leave you to your own decisions concerning this most prolific artist.
We regret that we do not have more of his work to offer you, but we are proud of the quality re-casts that we can offer!
